Chargers go viral for change to X profile

The Los Angeles Chargers have hired a new head coach, and they wasted no time making him the face of the franchise — at least on social media.

The Chargers went viral for their new X profile image on Thursday, which featured an extreme close-up of new coach Jim Harbaugh. The viral image comes from a shot of Harbaugh from a referee cam that was used during broadcast coverage of the 2022 Big Ten Championship.

The Chargers’ social media team is well-known for its viral exploits, so it is no shock that they are making the most of a hire this big. After all, Harbaugh is the most accomplished coaching hire of the cycle, and is almost certain to garner the most attention.

Harbaugh was hired by the Chargers on Wednesday after an extensive courtship and signed to a five-year contract. That means they lured him away from Michigan, where he is fresh off a national title. They have every reason to celebrate that.
