Chiefs taking incredible coin toss streak into Week 10
Not a whole lot has gone wrong for the Kansas City Chiefs in their first season with Patrick Mahomes as their starting quarterback, and that has been true every week even before the ball is kicked off.
As James Palmer of NFL Network noted on Thursday, the Chiefs have won the coin toss before all nine of their regular season games this year. If you go back to the preseason, they have actually won 12 in a row.
Mahomes cracked a funny joke earlier in the week about how nervous he is to not have the streak end.
There is coin toss mania going on KC. The Chiefs have won every coin toss this season. 9-0. 12 straight if you count the preseason. It’s like a no-hitter. No one talks about it.
Mahomes joked this week, "that’s one of the most nervous points in the game for me right now.”

While mathematically astonishing, that type of coin toss streak actually is not unprecedented in the NFL. The New England Patriots won 19 of 25 flips at one point a few years ago, and you can probably guess which NFL team started out a season 0-for-11 in coin tosses once.
The Chiefs are 8-1, so perhaps their luck with the coin toss has something to do with that. We always hear about overcoming adversity in the NFL, and we’ll be anxious to see how Mahomes and his teammates react when they eventually lose their first flip of the year.
