Commanders willing to trade one of their biggest stars for a QB?

The Washington Commanders have been open about the fact that they want to add a veteran quarterback this offseason, and they are apparently willing to go to great lengths to land a good one.

In his latest mailbag, Ben Standig of The Athletic was asked if he believes Washington would consider including Chase Young in a potential deal for a quarterback. He thinks they would.

“I think almost anyone on the roster is available if the result is Washington improving at quarterback,” he wrote. “In Young’s case, that would mean the Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson level.”

Young tore his ACL in November, but he is expected to be cleared for the start of the 2022 season. The former No. 2 overall pick is still just 22 and has been a force when healthy. If the Commanders are willing to give up a package of draft picks and a player like Young, they should be able to grab the attention of rival teams.

Washington head coach Ron Rivera dropped a big hint recently about his team’s plans at the QB position. Expect the Commanders to be a big part of any trade discussions involving top quarterbacks.
