Everyone had the same reaction to Cowboys’ awful first half

The Dallas Cowboys were embarrassed in the first half of their NFC Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers, and pretty much everyone had the same thought as they watched the game unfold.

The Cowboys fell behind 27-0 in the first half, and only slightly salvaged the scoreline with a touchdown on the final play of the half to make it 27-7. Dallas struggled to move the ball and played poorly on defense, while Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, including a pick-six late in the second quarter.

The carnage was bad enough that attention shifted to the status of coach Mike McCarthy. Social media was filled with predictions and jokes that owner Jerry Jones might fire McCarthy at halftime — especially with Bill Belichick on the market.

Even before Sunday’s game, there had been some talk that McCarthy’s job status could be in jeopardy if Dallas’ season were to end with an embarrassing playoff loss. A home blowout to the seventh-seeded Packers would certainly qualify as that.

With Belichick lurking on the market, these jokes may double as predictions.
