Cowboys reportedly not interested in Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel

The Dallas Cowboys apparently have wised up.

The Cowboys will not have serious discussions about Manziel until he gets his life in order, the Dallas Morning News reports.

When Manziel skipped his treatment appointment during Week 17 and reportedly went to Las Vegas, reports said he was trying to get cut by the Browns because he believed the Cowboys would sign him. Jerry Jones has been open about his love of Manziel and has said multiple times he wanted to draft the quarterback.

In the past month, two previous reports said the Cowboys would not be pursuing Manziel. This latest report meshes with those two.

The Cowboys also reportedly do not have interest in Robert Griffin III.

If you can believe it, it seems like the Cowboys are finally focusing on smart football decisions rather than going after controversial players who will generate headlines.

Manziel has been out partying this week as he awaits word from a grand jury, which will decide whether he should be charged for the alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend. The quarterback also seemingly continues to drink despite going to rehab last year for alcoholism. In addition to legal punishment, Manziel could be facing a penalty from the NFL under the personal conduct policy.
