Report: Cris Carter could be out at FS1 following blow-up with bosses

Cris Carter
Cris Carter has been notably absent from his typical spot with FOX Sports 1’s “First Things First” morning show since last Thursday, and there have been conflicting reports about why. The Hall of Fame wide receiver may have been suspended, and his time with the network could be nearing an end.

Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead was told by sources over the weekend that Carter has been suspended from “First Things First” pending a FOX investigation. There were no additional details provided, but Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reports that Carter has been at odds with his bosses and may soon be out at FS1.

According to McCarthy’s source, Carter has been angry that FOX has not included him in its “Thursday Night Football” pregame coverage this season despite Carter shooting his weekday morning show with co-hosts Nick Wright and Jenna Wolfe in Manhattan at the site of the network’s “Thursday Night Football” show. While Carter was not invited to join the coverage, FOX has flown in other on-air talents like Tony Gonzalez from Los Angeles.

McCarthy also reports that Carter had a blow-up with his superiors at FOX, with one source saying “it was bad.”

Carter has become known for some of his controversial takes over the years, but it’s unclear why FOX does not feel he fits in with its “Thursday Night Football” coverage. He obviously knows plenty about the game as one of the best receivers to ever play, so perhaps personal issues are playing a role.
