Dante Fowler apologizes for refereeing brawl between baby mama, another woman
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. issued a statement on Tuesday apologizing for his role in a brawl between the mother of his child and another woman earlier this month.
“I am embarrassed and have apologized for my actions to everyone involved,” Fowler said, via ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. “As a family, we have been dealing with this moment and the conflict that led to it since this occurred. The video surfacing is a sad reminder that emotions got the best of all of us. I take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happened.”
TMZ reports that the fight took place on Feb. 1 at an apartment complex in Florida. Fowler was shown on video overseeing a brawl between a woman believed to be his girlfriend and the mother of his child. The 21-year-old was shown getting between the two women before signaling for them to fight and backing off.
Once Fowler apparently decided that the fight had gone on long enough, he grabbed the alleged baby mama and pulled her off the woman he arrived with and left. Police said they were not called and no reports were filed.
An NFL official told TMZ on Tuesday that the league is investigating the incident and the “disturbing images” that were published. The Jaguars also released a statement and said Fowler informed them of the incident and said he was “embarrassed” by what happened.

Fowler, the No. 3 overall pick in last year’s draft, missed his entire rookie year after he tore his ACL (video here) during the preseason. It’s possible his NFL debut could be delayed further if the NFL decides to suspend him.
