Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden is expected to miss at least two months with an injury the team says he suffered at home.
On Tuesday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told reporters that McFadden underwent surgery to repair a broken elbow this week and will be out “a couple months.” As Todd Archer of ESPN.com notes, McFadden is said to have sustained the break in an “accident” at his house over Memorial Day weekend.
McFadden took part in organized team activities last week, so the injury obviously wasn’t bad enough that he was in excruciating pain.

In his first season with the Cowboys last year, McFadden eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time since he was with the Oakland Raiders in 2010. He lead Dallas by a wide margin in rushing yards with 1,089 and carries with 239. This season, however, McFadden is expected to be more of a compliment to rookie first-round pick Ezekiel Elliot, who is already getting a custom clothing line.
McFadden should be ready for the start of the season if his recovery timetable pans out.
