DeAndre Hopkins doubts trade from Texans will impact Deshaun Watson’s future

Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans’ decision to trade DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals didn’t seem to sit well with quarterback Deshaun Watson, but Hopkins doesn’t seem to think that’s going to happen.

Hopkins had nothing but praise for Watson on Thursday’s edition of ESPN’s “Jalen & Jacoby,” and made clear that the wide receiver does not expect his departure to change Watson’s long-term outlook in Houston.

“No,” Hopkins said, via Garrett Stepien of 247 Sports. “Deshaun’s a warrior. Deshaun’s a competitor. As long as he has his football in his hand, that’s all he cares about. I know that personally from him, from knowing him over the years.”

It seems that Hopkins’ intuition is right. Watson isn’t thinking about his contract situation right now, but he certainly seems ready to discuss terms. Despite the murky direction of the franchise, it seems keeping Watson will be doable for the Texans.
