Deion Sanders has team in mind he wants to steer son Shedeur to in NFL Draft

Deion Sanders hasn’t been shy when it comes to his plans for his son, Shedeur. Deion even seems to have an NFL team in mind for whom he would like Shedeur to play.

Deion was a guest on the “Nightcap” show featuring Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson recently. During his appearance, Deion talked about the Miami Dolphins’ situation with Tua Tagovailoa.

Deion suggested that the Dolphins might need to look into drafting a quarterback, and hinted that he would like them to take Shedeur.

“What do you do business-wise if you the Dolphins?” Sanders asked. “Do you go into the draft and take a quarterback, which is what I’m saying, or do you say, ‘Tua, let’s check this out, let’s see what we’re going to do.’ Is his health more important than that?”

Johnson was slow to catch on to Deion’s plan, but once he did, they were on the same page.

“So you just got the revelation?” Deion asked Johnson, making it clear that was the plan.

Tagovailoa is on injured reserve while he recovers from his latest concussion. Some figures have encouraged the 26-year-old to retire due to his concussion history, and that’s something Deion is leaning into.

Deion trying to determine what team drafts his son is nothing new.

In March, Sanders said in an interview that he might want his son to pull an Eli Manning and potentially force his way to a different team, which is what Manning did when he refused to play for the Chargers and instead was traded to the New York Giants.

Deion is in his second season at Colorado and has his Buffaloes 4-1. Shedeur has passed for 1,630 yards, 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions this season. He is projected by some to be the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.
