Derrick Johnson to re-sign with Chiefs for $21 million
Derrick Johnson is expected to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year deal, per a report.
The veteran linebacker’s contract is expected to be for $21 million, Chiefs beat writer Terez A. Paylor reports.
Even though he is 33 years old, Johnson is still one of the most productive linebackers in the game. He recorded 116 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions last season.
In addition to Johnson, the Chiefs also signed Mitchell Schwartz to a five-year deal Wednesday.
It was a busy day for the Chiefs as they were also penalized by the NFL for tampering with Jeremy Maclin last year. They were fined $250,000 and lost two draft picks — a third-round pick in 2016 and sixth-round pick in 2017.
