DeShone Kizer not intended to start right away for Browns
The Cleveland Browns finally added a QB in the draft, but it’s one who probably won’t be ready to start for them this season.
The Browns chose DeShone Kizer with the No. 52 overall pick on Friday. The former Notre Dame QB left school early and still had two years of eligibility left. Though his college coach Brian Kelly spoke positively about him, he felt the QB could have benefited from more time in school.
Even an immediate report from ESPN’s Josina Anderson says the Browns expect Kizer to add depth to the QB position and be someone they need to develop.
Browns source says QB Deshone Kizer "immediately adds to the competition at the position." Adding, "he's someone we feel lk we can develop."

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also says that the pick of Kizer means you can kiss goodbye a thought of the Browns trading for Jimmy Garoppolo or AJ McCarron.
And with Browns 2nd-rd pick of DeShone Kizer, that's now a wrap on any thought of landing Jimmy Garappolo or A.J. McCarron this off-season.

The Browns have been such a bad organization over the past two decades, going through scores of coaches and quarterbacks, that it’s tough to have confidence in their ability to develop a QB longterm. Some think Kizer has great talent, so it will be on the Browns to bring that out slowly. We do know how confident Kizer is in his abilities, which is a nice starting point.
