Dolphins upset with Calvin Pryor’s ‘classless’ celebration
Ryan Tannehill said after Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets that the Miami Dolphins were not happy with Calvin Pryor’s celebration after a big hit on Rishard Matthews during the game.
Pryor absolutely crushed Matthews with a big hit during the first quarter, contributing to an incompletion.
After the game, Tannehill said Dolphins players felt Pryor’s celebration of the play was classless.
“I was worried about Rishard, but I heard some [teammates] talking about it on the sidelines,” Tannehill said via ESPN’s James Walker. “That’s kind of a classless move to celebrate when a guy is injured. Obviously, it was a good hit, a clean hit. But to celebrate when a guy is down is a classless move.”
The hit knocked Matthews out for the game. That was his only target in the contest as the Dolphins lost 38-20 to the Jets.
It’s hard to blame Pryor for his initial reaction. He was fired up after delivering a massive hit and celebrated based on that, not because he injured someone. He said so after the game via Twitter:
Throw a better ball next time @ryantannehill1 teammate would've never got injured!!! Sorry if you felt I was classless at the moment.

I was definitely celebrating the great play I made. I would never celebrate someone getting injured during the game. C'mon now
