The Miami Dolphins are moving on from a veteran offensive player who was named to the Pro Bowl just one year ago.

The Dolphins informed running back Raheem Mostert that they plan to release him. Mostert’s agent Brett Tessler shared the news on X, thanking the organization for giving Mostert “a chance to pursue a ring elsewhere.”

Looks like my client Raheem Mostert will be playing elsewhere next season. Very thankful for his time with the Miami Dolphins, and this gives them a chance to get younger and gives him a chance to pursue a ring elsewhere.

— Brett Tessler (@TesslerSports) February 14, 2025

Mostert was a Pro Bowl selection for the Dolphins in 2023, rushing for 1,012 yards and a league-leading 18 touchdowns. Injuries hindered him at times in 2024 and he largely lost his backfield duties to De’Von Achane, with Mostert getting just 85 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns.

The Dolphins will clear $2.9 million in cap space by moving on from Mostert.

Mostert turns 33 in April and is coming off a bad season, so he might have to hope for a backup role. The veteran back has made a career out of being doubted, however, so it is safe to assume he still has confidence that he can contribute to a contender.
