Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola threw not one, but two cheap shots at New England Patriots defensive tackle Zach Moore on Sunday.
We all saw Raiola dive at Moore’s legs when Matthew Stafford took a knee on the final play of the game. The 35-year-old veteran admitted after the game that he did that in response to the Patriots running up the score. But Raiola wasn’t asked about decking Moore in the back of the head earlier in the game.
When Moore beat Raiola on one play and had a clear path toward Stafford, Raiola turned and punched him in the back of the head. Moore fell to the turf.
The NFL is reviewing Raiola’s cut block and said he could be fined, though he will not be suspended. What about the punch? At the very least, it should take a few more bucks out of Raiola’s pocket.
