Drew Brees’ son Baylen roots against him

Drew-Brees-son

Drew Brees’ children aren’t quite old enough yet to appreciate all the sacrifices their dad makes to give them a great life, and you’d know what we mean by that if you watched a Saints-Giants game with them.

In an appearance on “Conan” this week, Brees told Conan O’Brien that his oldest son Baylen, who is 7, roots against him — especially when the Saints play the Giants. Believe it or not, loyalty is the reason why.

“He’s loyal to a fault,” Brees explained. “He goes to Newman School in New Orleans, which is the same school attended by Eli Manning and Odell Beckham. The green and white runs deeper than the blood obviously.”

That makes sense, especially in the mind of a 7-year-old. But how can Brees explain his kids rubbing it in after he takes a beating from J.J. Watt and the Texans?

“I get home after we played the Texans this year and J.J. Watt kind of had his way with me, sacked me a few times,” Brees recalled. “I walk in the door battered, bruised, frustrated, but then I see the kids and I’m just waiting for that moment to embrace them. The minute I hug them they say, ‘Dad let’s play football. You be Drew Brees and we’ll be J.J. Watt. You stand there and we’re gonna hit you.'”

Fatherhood, right?

If you remember, Brees said his son was rooting for the other team earlier this season when he put on a historic performance.
