Boston Scott looks ahead

Longtime Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott has found a new home.

Scott has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Scott posted a heartfelt message on X shortly after the news of his Rams deal went public. The 29-year-old thanked team owner Jeff Lurie, the Eagles front office, the city of Philadelphia, and his teammates who believed in him.

“Mr. Lurie, Howie Houdini, the front office, every worker, coaches, and most of all my teammates that truly believed in me. … Thank you. You are a part of the story of what I’ve become to this day and I ain’t done yet. Appreciate you,” wrote Scott.

The 5’6″ running back was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He never played a down for New Orleans. Once the Saints released Scott late into the 2018 season, the Eagles swooped in to claim him off waivers.

Scott played six seasons with the Eagles. He rushed for 1,295 yards with 16 touchdowns on 302 carries in Philadelphia. Scott also recorded 71 catches for 566 yards with 1 touchdown.

Eagles fans best know Scott for constantly stepping up against one specific team: the New York Giants. 10 of Scott’s 17 total career touchdowns have come against the Giants, including his lone receiving TD in 2020.

Scott was primarily used in short-yardage situations. But with the emergence of Jalen Hurts as a runner and the addition of Saquon Barkley, Scott no longer had a place on the Eagles.
