Report: Eagles want to trade Alshon Jeffery
Changes appear to be coming to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, the Eagles have made wide receiver Alshon Jeffery available for trade, and Jeffery would welcome a move. Jeffery reportedly had a “testy” relationship with quarterback Carson Wentz, and it was confirmed that Jeffery was behind the anonymous criticism of the struggling Philadelphia offense last season.
A Jeffery trade has its caveats. The receiver underwent Lisfranc surgery in December, and may not be ready for the start of the 2020 season. That may mean the Eagles would have to include a draft pick if they want to get Jeffery’s nearly $10 million base salary off the books.
The Eagles have some work to do this offseason on all fronts. It sounds like trading Jeffery would be in everyone’s best interests, but between his health and the finances involved, that will be much easier said than done.
