Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is getting comfortable in his new analyst job, but some habits die hard.
Tomlin made his “Sunday Night Football” debut on Sunday and, as usual, offered some analysis of the other Week 1 games. He was particularly brutal, however, when spotlighting the Cleveland Browns’ 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“In the words of my friend JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Browns is the Browns,” Tomlin said.

Tomlin is echoing word-for-word the infamous Smith-Schuster quote from prior to a 2021 playoff game. To many, it came to signify the franchise’s history of failure. Cleveland actually won the playoff game in question, however, and Smith-Schuster’s comment actually lit a fire under their players.
None of that matters to Tomlin, of course. He went 28-10-1 against the Browns as head coach of the Steelers, and given how poorly Cleveland played in Week 1, it is not tough for him to pile on. Perhaps this will motivate current Browns players, but don’t count on it.
