Report: Eddie Lacy missed curfew in Detroit

Eddie Lacy missed curfew in Detroit the night before the Green Bay Packers’ Thursday game against the Lions, leading to his demotion, according to a report.

Lacy started off the year slowly and battled some injuries, but he was coming off consecutive 100-yard games entering Week 13. That’s why it was so surprising to see James Starks get the majority of the carries for the Packers over Lacy to start the game. It was clear Lacy was in head coach Mike McCarthy’s doghouse, but it was not known why. Now we know.

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports that Lacy and Alonzo Harris both missed curfew on Wednesday night. Harris was cut, while Lacy just saw less action.

Lacy only played 19 snaps and carried the ball just five times for four yards, wrecking the hopes of fantasy owners everywhere who needed a big game out of him. Instead, Starks led the team with nine carries and five receptions. Even undrafted John Crockett carried the ball five times.

McCarthy had previously said of Lacy that the running back did not have a great week leading up to the game. Missing curfew at a time when the team is making a playoff push is not a good sign of dedication to the team’s values and preparation. However, the good news is by being a better citizen moving forward, Lacy stands a good chance to regain his prominent role in the offense.
