The Green Bay Packers have had trouble getting production from their backfield this season, and Eddie Lacy is not going to come to the rescue at any point in the next six weeks.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced on Wednesday that both Lacy and veteran defensive back Sam Shields have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Lacy underwent foot surgery last month, and the Packers really haven’t been able to establish a running game since. While there were reports that he had rediscovered his love for cheeseburgers, Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry in five games and was starting to resemble his 2014 form.
Without Lacy, the Packers will have to stick with veteran James Starks and continue using Ty Montgomery out of the backfield in certain situations. They also could incorporate Christine Michael, who they claimed off waivers after his release from the Seattle Seahawks two weeks ago.
