Eli Apple leaves game with right knee injury on non-contact play

Eli Apple

Eli Apple left Sunday’s New Orleans Saints-Chicago Bears game after injuring his right knee on a non-contact play.

Apple was covering Javon Wims with under a minute to go and slipped in the end zone at Soldier Field. Apple going down allowed Wims to be wide open, and the Bears receiver caught a touchdown to make it 36-25.

Replay showed Apple going down without contact as he appeared to slip on the turf. Apple was grabbing his right knee.

Apple, a former first-round pick by the Giants, had six tackles in the game. The 24-year-old cornerback is in his second season with the Saints, who are now 6-1.
