The Baltimore Ravens were blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, and Lamar Jackson faced a big accusation from fans when the star quarterback exited the game early.
Jackson was replaced by backup quarterback Cooper Rush late in Baltimore’s 37-20 Week 4 loss to the Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. Sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said during the CBS broadcast that Jackson had sustained a hamstring injury and looked “extremely frustrated.”
After he left the game, Jackson did not seem to receive much attention from the Ravens’ medical staff. That led to many fans speculating that the two-time NFL MVP simply did not want to finish the game because the Ravens were losing so badly.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said after the game that he did not have any update on Jackson. Harbaugh did, however, say that he does not think the hamstring injury is season-ending “by any stretch.”
The Chiefs have had Jackson’s number throughout the quarterback’s career. Jackson is now just 1-6 against Kansas City as a starter including the playoffs.
Even if Jackson’s injury was not that serious, that does not necessarily mean he quit on the Ravens. It is entirely possible that he felt some mild discomfort and coaches and trainers decided it was best for him to sit out. Baltimore was losing 30-13 at the time, so there was no sense risking anything with their best player in a regular-season game that had gotten out of hand.
Jackson’s injury is worth watching, especially since the Ravens fell to 1-3 with Sunday’s loss. They have home games upcoming against the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams before their bye week.
