Fred Davis arrested for DUI
Fred Davis can’t get out of his own way. The free agent tight end was arrested for driving while under the influence on Thursday afternoon, just one day after the NFL suspended him indefinitely for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Davis, who was phased out by rookie Jordan Reed with the Washington Redskins last year, was stopped in northern Virginia at around 4:00 p.m. Thursday. Chuck Carroll of CBS DC reported that police responded to a 911 call of a man slumped over inside a black Rolls-Royce. When officers and EMTs arrived at the scene, Davis allegedly attempted to drive away.
This photo that Deadspin shared supposedly show Davis being taken into custody:

With that, Davis’ NFL career could very well be over. He released a statement on Wednesday blaming his most recent failed test on a banned supplement, but the 28-year-old has hardly earned the benefit of the doubt. Davis was suspended four games in 2011 for failing multiple marijuana tests, though he claims those days are behind him. According to him, the NFL’s system sets you up to fail multiple tests.
In addition to suspensions for failed drug tests and now a DUI arrest, Davis has also admitted that he nodded off during Redskins team meetings. Who would sign this guy?
