Giants coach names Eli Manning starter for Week 10
It has widely been assumed that Eli Manning will keep his starting job coming out of the bye week in the wake of rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta being arrested, and New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur confirmed that on Tuesday.
While speaking with the media, Shurmur said Manning will start against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night and reiterated that the entire team — not just Eli — must play better.
Pat Shurmur says Eli Manning will start Monday. He’s explained to Eli that everyone must play better and it isn’t good enough for #Giants to be “almost” in these games.

Shurmur stopped short of saying Manning would be starter going forward after New York’s loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 8, but Lauletta likely made the decision an easy one when he got arrested. Shurmur said the rookie will be disciplined internally but not suspended by the team.

Lauletta was taken into custody last week following a traffic incident, and the details that were released by police did not paint him in a great light.
The Giants have won just one game this season and are a legitimate contender for the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft. While they have plenty of issues outside of Manning, it seems obvious that the two-time Super Bowl champion has very little left in the tank.
