Police provide details on Giants rookie Kyle Lauletta’s arrest

Kyle Lauletta

New York Giants quarterback Kyle Lauletta was arrested on Tuesday morning over an alleged traffic incident on his way to the team’s facility, and police have provided more details regarding what led to the rookie being taken into custody.

According to a press release from the Weehawken Police Department, Lauletta was observed driving in a “dangerous manner” in heavy traffic and attempted to evade an officer who told him to continue in his marked lane. He made an illegal turn and nearly struck the officer with his vehicle, and he then refused instructions from officers when he was pulled over and asked for his license and registration and to step out of the car.

Here’s the full statement:

After pulling Lauletta over, officers discovered that he was involved in a similar incident at the same location the previous day. Summonses were issued in the mail after he did not stop his vehicle at the scene on Monday.

Lauletta was charged with disorderly persons offenses that included evading police, obstructing administration of law and resisting arrest. He was also hit with several motor vehicles charges.

Lauletta, a fourth-round pick this year, had a legitimate chance of starting in Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers with how poorly Manning has played. Judging by Shurmur’s weak endorsement of Manning on Monday, it sounded like the coach was about ready to make a change. That may no longer be the case.
