Giants kicker watched daughter’s birth on FaceTime hours before NFL debut

It’s probably safe to say Aldrick Rosas had something of an eventful weekend.

According to a feature by Jordan Raanan of ESPN on Thursday, the New York Giants rookie kicker watched the birth of his first child, daughter Karsyn Isabella Rosas, on FaceTime just hours before making his NFL debut against the Dallas Cowboys. Rosas’ girlfriend, Tiffany Lopez, had been scheduled to be induced on Monday, when Rosas could be there. But she went into labor early and gave birth at 4:15 AM on Sunday while Rosas watched virtually instead.

“I got to be there,” Rosas was quoted as saying. “It was a little grainy, but it was good to kind of be there in support. It was an amazing feeling.”

The Southern Oregon product then took the field in Dallas for his debut later that day, hitting his lone attempt (a 25-yard field goal) to account for the Giants’ only points of the game. Rosas then flew to California on a private jet with Giants co-owner Steve Tisch to meet his daughter for the first time.

“That was pretty special to have my first child and my first NFL game,” Rosas added. “Kind of two dreams coming true.”

It sounds like a truly special moment indeed for both Rosas and his girlfriend, and it’s probably one that Greg Holland can relate to as well.
