Golden Tate expresses excitement over NFL shortening preseason with funny tweet

Golden Tate Lions

The NFL appears to be headed toward eliminating at least two preseason games this year, and that is a move that will likely be popular among both players and fans. One player who is clearly in favor of it is Golden Tate.

A report on Wednesday claimed the NFL has decided to cut the preseason in half, meaning only two exhibition games will be played ahead of the 2020 season. Tate responded to that report on Twitter. The veteran wide receiver expressed excitement while also mocking the concept of preseason games.

The NFL is shortening the preseason by one game next year to transition to a 17-game regular season, so it makes sense to eliminate preseason games this season given the circumstances. Most established players view the exhibition games as a nuisance, so Tate is surely not alone with that thinking.

While there almost certainly are not going to be four preseason games this year, it sounds like there’s a chance there could be none. That would probably make Tate and others even happier.
