Fan-run indoor league football team considering signing Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy may have a new job soon — if one team’s fans consent to it.

The Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, an indoor football franchise where major decisions are decided by fan vote, are looking at signing Hardy, but are leaving it to their supporters.

In a posting on the team’s website, the Screaming Eagles, who call themselves a “FANchise,” say Hardy wants to play for the team. Ownership and coaches agree that they’re willing to give Hardy a chance if the fans are as well.

“On the field, Greg would be a no-questions-asked signee for just about any coach in any league,” Screaming Eagles head coach Matthew Sauk said. “Greg is human and made some mistakes in his life and is paying for those mistakes. We want the fans to make the call.”

Hardy has been exiled from the NFL over repeated legal trouble, including domestic violence. He’s been looking to get involved in a league like this, but he may have a tough time winning over the fans.
