CeeDee Lamb needed some time to process a detail shared with him about the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.
Lamb and the Cowboys suffered a 28-20 loss to New York at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and a big reason was the lopsided possession battle. In fact, Dallas controlled the ball only twice in the entire second half, something Lamb didn’t seem to believe at first.
“Oh, I ain’t know that. That’s crazy. That’s crazy. Good to know,” the former Oklahoma Sooners star said.

The second half started with the Giants capping a 12-play drive with a touchdown by tight end Isaiah Likely. That drive took over eight minutes to finish. The Cowboys responded with a 12-play touchdown drive of their own, with running back Javonte Williams finding the end zone.
In the fourth quarter, the Giants had the first and last drives of the period, with Dallas’ final drive sandwiched in between and ending with another touchdown by Williams.
Overall, the Cowboys controlled the ball for 23:20 minutes to 36:40 by the Giants.
Lamb had five catches for 44 receiving yards and a touchdown in the loss to New York, but his performance was still below expectations.
It is back to the drawing board for the Cowboys, who will look for much better results in Week 2, when they host the Washington Commanders in their home opener at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
