Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper still has his head coach’s full confidence despite stumbling out of the gates to start the 2017 campaign.
As part of his weekly Twiter Q&A, Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said Thursday he’d been getting a lot of questions about Cooper but defended the third-year wideout and drew a comparison to receiving great and ex-Raider Jerry Rice.

The 23-year-old Cooper, a Pro Bowler in each of his first two NFL seasons, has caught just 10 of his 23 targets for 101 yards and one touchdown through three games in 2017. He was particularly shoddy in a Week 3 loss to the Washington Redskins with a lone catch for six yards. But the Alabama product has already established his immense talent at the professional level, so it’s easy to why Del Rio, who always goes to bat for his guys, still has the utmost faith in Cooper.
