Janoris Jenkins claimed by Saints
The New York Giants cut Janoris Jenkins last week in the wake of a controversial tweet the veteran cornerback sent, but the New Orleans Saints were apparently not bothered by it as much.
The Saints claimed Jenkins off waivers on Monday, according to multiple reports.
Janoris Jenkins’ claim officially is delayed until Tuesday because the Saints play the Colts tonight. But Jenkins officially will become a Saint on Tuesday. https://t.co/kezZbpkl5o

While sitting out practice last Wednesday because of his injured ankle, Jenkins responded to some fan criticism on Twitter by using a derogatory slang toward the person. He did not apologize until he sat down for a conversation with Giants head coach Pat Shurmur, and even then he left the tweet up and downplayed it.
The Giants signed Jenkins in 2016 after the former second-round pick spent the first four seasons of his career with the then-St. Louis Rams. Jenkins was kicked off the team at Florida during his college days and has made headlines through his tweets in the past, so it’s not surprising to see his tenure in New York end on this type of note.
New Orleans is looking to improve a secondary that ranks 20th in the NFL with 244.1 passing yards allowed per game. Jenkins should give them some quality depth as they head into the postseason.
