Jarryd Hayne, a well-known Australian rugby player who spent some time with the San Francisco 49ers, fell victim to an unfortunate prank while taking part in a presentation on cyber security at a high school in his home country recently.
Hayne stood on stage in the auditorium at Robina State High while an expert from the Norton anti-virus software company demonstrated how the security of his smartphone can be compromised. Hayne had the phone in his hand while its contents were being displayed on a projector screen. Then this happened:
The obvious conclusion to draw is that Hayne had been looking at porn on his phone, but a representative from Norton says that was not the case. Apparently the adult content popped up after some sort of hilarious hack.
“However, (we) can categorically confirm that the inappropriate images were not from Jarryd’s mobile phone,” the company said in a statement provided to the Gold Coast Bulletin. “The content was traced back to a Samsung device while Jarryd was utilizing an iPhone. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that any of the students from the school were involved in the incident.”
I personally have no idea how stuff like this works, which makes it all the more hilarious.
Hayne, who had some interesting reasons for retiring from the NFL to focus on rugby, had to have been embarrassed by that — hacked or not.
