Jason McCourty: Browns players are ‘tired’ of being criticized by front office

There aren’t many positive things to say about a Cleveland Browns season that ended without a single victory, but Jason McCourty and some of the team’s other players don’t appreciate the way the front office has spoken about them.

In recent weeks, members of the Browns organization have alluded to the fact that there isn’t enough talent on the team’s roster. McCourty said he and others have grown “tired” of hearing that.

“The talent in this locker room is not the talent to go win a Super Bowl this year, but this locker room is far more talented than 0-16,” the veteran cornerback said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “I’m kind of tired of hearing so many people say, even within the organization, is we don’t have the guys or we need more guys, let’s work with the guys we do have and find ways to win games.”

Head coach Hue Jackson has mentioned that the team lacks talent, and it is well known that he wanted the Browns to trade for certain quarterbacks in the past and was disappointed when it didn’t happen. While it may be obvious that a 0-16 team doesn’t have a good enough roster, McCourty doesn’t think the players need to hear their own bosses saying that over and over.

“I think it’s bugged probably everyone in this locker room,” he said. “When you’re one of the guys on the team who’s playing your heart out and you are putting everything into it – obviously, we are not getting the result we want, which is very apparent but still you are giving everything you have – you don’t want to hear about what you don’t have.”

New general manager John Dorsey ripped the Browns’ previous regime after he was hired, and his remarks were on par with other “no talent” quips that have been made. While you can’t blame the players for being offended, they didn’t really do anything to prove otherwise.
