Jason Pierre-Paul: Defending Drew Brees, Saints will be ‘much easier’ than Redskins

Despite their 5-7 record, the New Orleans Saints have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. That has been the case ever since Drew Brees came to the Bayou in 2006, but New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is not overly concerned about it.

Coming off a loss to the Washington Redskins, Pierre-Paul believes defending Brees, Jimmy Graham and company will seem like a cake walk compared to stopping Robert Griffin III and Washington’s dynamic offense.

“The Redskins got a great scheme going on there, especially with their quarterback they got, and just playing that option, man, is crazy,” Pierre-Paul said according to The Star-Ledger. “I think we’re one of the best teams that have played it, played it well, but it’s a pain in the (butt). I hate playing it. So now going up (against) a traditional offense, we know what we’re going to probably get, and it’s much easier.”

History tells us that facing the Giants has been easy for Brees, not the New York defense. In four career games against the G-Men, Brees is 4-0 with 11 touchdowns and a 122.1 passer rating. The Giants have never intercepted one of his passes. However, JPP feels his team is familiar enough with New Orleans to find success.

“We already know what (Brees is) capable of, and his targets and stuff, so we’ll go out there and play some great football,” he said. “And we ain’t gotta worry about the option.”

Do the Saints and Redskins run different offenses? Very much so, but in my opinion that hardly makes New Orleans any easier to defend. Pierre-Paul may be reminded of that come Sunday.
