Jayden Daniels could miss Commanders’ Week 3 game

Jayden Daniels suffered a knee injury during the Washington Commanders’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, and the star quarterback’s status for Week 3 is now uncertain.

Daniels was seen limping late in Washington’s 27-18 loss to the Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. It is unclear when exactly he suffered the injury, but he was slow to get up after a couple of different big hits during the game.

Tests have since revealed that Daniels has a sprained knee, according to multiple reports. While the Commanders are not concerned about Daniels over the long term, his status for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders is in question.

Jayden Daniels underwent an MRI after the game and then a follow up appointment today with the #Commanders team physician. Test revealed a knee sprain that puts his status this week in doubt. https://t.co/bedhxhs3gd

Daniels went 24/42 for 200 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions against a Packers defense that has been dominant through the first two weeks of the season. He ran for only 17 yards on 7 carries, which may have had more to do with Green Bay’s game plan than Daniels being hobbled with a knee issue.

A knee injury is particularly concerning for Daniels, who is a true dual-threat quarterback. The Commanders will likely play it safe with their franchise quarterback to make sure he does not wind up hurting himself further.
