Jerry Jones hints Dak Prescott will keep starting job over Tony Romo
Jerry Jones has always been very loyal to Tony Romo, but even the Dallas Cowboys owner is starting to find it difficult to ignore the spark rookie Dak Prescott has given the team.
Roughly a month ago, Jones said Romo was the Cowboys’ “No. 1 quarterback” and strongly implied that Prescott was simply keeping the seat warm while Romo recovers from a back injury. Fast-forward to Tuesday, and all signs point to Prescott keeping his job.

As expected, the Cowboys are going to delay Romo’s return as long as they can. Jones said the latest Romo will be back is at “some point near the end of the year.” With the team now 6-1 and not having lost since Week 1, the easiest thing to do at the moment is say Romo is not yet 100 percent healthy — whether that’s true or not.
If you want to know how much Jones has changed his opinion on his team’s quarterback situation, this should give you an idea:

The Cowboys simply cannot change quarterbacks with how well they have been playing, and even some of the team’s most beloved legends have alluded to that. If Prescott loses a game or two, things could change in a hurry. But for now, it’s not out of the question that Romo has played his last snap as the starting quarterback in Dallas.
