New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams on Monday was openly criticized by his quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Williams did not seem to take the public call-out personally.

The Jets lost their Week 6 matchup against the Buffalo Bills 23-20 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The decisive play of the game came with the Jets facing 3rd-and-16 at their own 40 just before the two-minute warning. Rodgers threw a deep ball to Williams that was easily intercepted by the Bills’ defense.

After the game, Rodgers blamed Williams for not running the proper route “down the red line,” which meant Williams was supposed to keep going down the sideline.

On Friday, Williams was asked if he was “upset” about Rodgers’ comments. The 30-year-old made sure to clear the air.

“No, nope,” said Williams while shaking his head. “I’ve just got to be on the red line. We all watched film. We all go through it and made corrections.”

Williams also confirmed that Rodgers spoke to him directly after the QB made his public comments.

Mike Williams said he and Aaron Rodgers spoke after Rodgers’ comments about him running the wrong route. He didn’t have any issue with what Rodgers said — and said that Rodgers reached out to him after the fact.

Williams enters Week 7 with 10 catches for 145 yards on 17 targets. He ranks third in all categories among Jets wide receivers behind Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. But with Davante Adams joining the Jets’ wideout room, Williams may very well be the odd man out.
