Jim Irsay reportedly met girlfriend Jami Martin on Twitter, wrecked her marriage

The hidden and unsavory habits of Jim Irsay were revealed in an ESPN the Magazine article discussing the Indianapolis Colts owner’s drug addiction and personal life. Most of the article talks about Irsay’s addiction to pain/prescription pills — something that came to light during the owner’s OWI arrest in March — but a lot of it also dealt with Irsay’s romantic relationships.

Jim Irsay married wife Megan in 1980 and divorced in January, though they were legally separated for a decade. Outside the marriage/separation, Irsay had a relationship with a woman named Kim Wundrum, who died in March of a drug overdose. Even though Jim and Kim had a relationship for around eight years and he bought Kim three properties, Irsay kept their relationship hidden.

From ESPN:

But he kept himself at arm’s length. He wouldn’t take Kim to a movie unless it was a matinee, or risk a restaurant unless they were out of town, and even then it had to be with a group. Jim would leave her at the luxurious home they shared to go to Colts charity events and pose with his wife, Meg, from whom he was legally separated.

Despite whatever relationship he had with wife Megan and girlfriend Kim, Jim started a fling with a married woman named Jami Martin in 2011.

The relationship between Irsay and Martin (pictured above), who has three children and is from Martinsville, Indiana, began over Twitter. A look at Jami’s Twitter account shows that she used it in January and February, 2011, almost exclusively to tweet at Irsay. The tweets seem to have been in response to the numerous ticket giveaway contests Irsay ran through his Twitter account.

Jami’s husband, Greg, says the relationship between Irsay and Jami began when Irsay responded to Jami with a direct message to set up a meeting. By September, Greg knew about the affair.

He used a Twitter account to tweet at Irsay, accusing the owner of being a home wrecker. You can see all the tweets below.

There is no word on the status of the relationship between Irsay and Martin, but it seems like things are ongoing. Greg and Jami apparently are in divorce proceedings, because ESPN says Greg wants Jim to testify in a custody battle about whether he’s a negative influence on the Martins’ children.
