Joseph Randle ordered to receive mental health treatment

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has been ordered to receive mental health counseling at an inpatient treatment facility following his February arrest.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Randle’s own legal team raised concerns about the 24-year-old’s mental health after he was arrested in February for allegedly trying to run people over with his car. A mental health professional is concerned about Randle’s ability to “make decisions and control his behaviors” and has recommended at least 30 days in an inpatient facility.

The judge in the case sided with Randle’s team — and ordered him to receive treatment as part of his bond… and will allow him to work with the NFL Players Union to select the facility.

As part of the terms of the bond, Randle must submit weekly progress reports detailing his treatment.

TMZ notes that this was the matter Randle was supposed to be in court for on Friday, but he failed to appear and was taken into custody yet again over the weekend.

Randle has been arrested six times in the past 17 months. You can see a rundown of all of them here. In addition to the arrests, he also faced allegations of sports gambling while playing. His NFL career is likely over.
