Kellen Winslow jailed for alleged lewd conduct against elderly woman while on bail
Kellen Winslow II was surprisingly granted his release from jail last year despite facing kidnapping and rape charges, but the former NFL tight end is back behind bars following more disturbing allegations from an elderly woman.
According to Teri Figueroa of The San Diego Union-Tribune, prosecutors brought new charges against Winslow on Monday after a 77-year-old woman accused him of lewd conduct at a gym in Carlsbad, Calif., last month. The woman said Winslow was exercising near her on Feb. 13 when he began touching himself and asked if she liked it. More than a week later, he allegedly got into the same hot tub the woman was in while wearing only a towel and touched her arm and foot.
Winslow pleaded not guilty to new misdemeanor charges of battery of an elder and willful cruelty to an elder. On Monday, a judge ordered that he be held without bail.
Winslow is scheduled to go to trial next month for rape and kidnapping charges that were filed against him last year. He was released on $2 million bail and placed on house arrest last June after being arrested on suspicion of raping two women in their 50s in the San Diego area. Prosecutors later said they believe Winslow is guilty of raping a third woman, described as a 17-year-old female who was unconscious at the time Winslow allegedly sexually assaulted her.
When Winslow’s alleged victims were in court to testify against him, the case took a strange turn when they were unable to identify him as the man who committed the crimes against him.
