Titans S Kevin Byard throws shade at Blake Bortles
The Tennessee Titans must really not like Blake Bortles.
Speaking with reporters Tuesday, Titans safety Kevin Byard commented on his team’s divisional playoff game against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and threw some shade at the Jacksonville Jaguars QB in the process.
“It’s a playoff game, so it’s not like it’s the preseason where I can go out there, ‘Oh, it’s Brady,’ and I’m chillin,” said Byard, per The Tennessean’s Jason Wolf. “This is a playoff game. So I don’t really care if it was Joe Montana. You know what I’m saying? I’m trying to go out there and win the game. I want to make him look like Blake Bortles if I can and try to catch a couple picks.”
Perhaps the rivalry stems from the fact that the Titans and the Jaguars are AFC South adversaries and that both teams are still alive in the playoffs. But the All-Pro Byard’s comments just one week after another prominent Titan took a similar shot at Bortles, so it may be time to start rooting for an (albeit highly unlikely) Tennessee-Jacksonville AFC championship game.
