Kurt Warner says he considered making NFL comeback for 2018 season
Kurt Warner is 46 years old and has not played in the NFL in nearly a decade, but apparently he did not rule out the possibility of suiting up and giving it another go in 2018.
While appearing in the St. Louis Cardinals broadcast booth on Monday night, Warner claimed he spoke with one NFL head coach about the possibility of playing in 2018. Believe it or not, it sounded like he was serious.

“I was actually ready to (play) this coming season,” Warner said. “I actually talked to a coach and my wife said, ‘Go for it, I think it would be great.’ I actually talked to a coach about possibly doing it if they needed someone, but they went out and signed somebody. I don’t think they thought I was serious.”
Warner added that he believes he is “completely done” with any potential comeback now, but the fact that he even considered playing next season seems insane.
While we’ve heard Warner talk about possible comebacks in the past, he also said several years ago that he would encourage his children — he has seven of them — to not play football. It wouldn’t make much sense for him to subject himself to the types of head shots he is so concerned about, especially when he is turning 47 in June. No matter what he wants us to believe, Warner signing with a team in 2018 was never a legitimate consideration.
