Lamar Jackson urges Ravens to sign his former college teammate

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is publicly lobbying his team to pursue his former college teammate in free agency.

Jackson and cornerback Jaire Alexander spent three years together at Louisville, and the quarterback is hoping the Ravens move to sign Alexander after the cornerback was released by the Green Bay Packers. Jackson added he has already reached out to Alexander about possibly playing for the Ravens.

“Go get him, Eric. I love all our corners, don’t get me wrong, but go get him, Eric,” Jackson said, addressing Ravens GM Eric DeCosta. “Yeah, I hit him up, but you never know with Jaire. That’s my boy, man.”

The Packers released Alexander last week in a cost-cutting move. His recurring injury problems led the team to move on from him, as he has played just 34 of the last 68 regular season games.

Jackson does not care about that, and he might be right not to. If Alexander can stay healthy, he might be a great option for the Ravens, especially if they can get him for a relatively low salary.

The Ravens have been spending money lately. It remains to be seen if they would be willing to commit to Alexander, but Jackson has made his own stance clear.
