LeBron James was not pleased with how his hometown fans reacted Sunday to the injury suffered by Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Watson went down with a non-contract injury during his team’s Week 7 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio. While the Browns have yet to reveal the full extent of Watson’s injury, many have speculated that the 29-year-old QB may have torn his Achilles tendon.
A good chunk of the home fans were heard cheering as Watson remained on the ground following the injury.

Awful: #Browns fans were cheering when Deshaun Watson went down with what looks to be a season-ending Achilles injury.

James went on X on Sunday night to condemn any Browns supporters who applauded after seeing Watson get hurt.
“Cleveland Fans!” wrote James. “Yall [sic] know how much we’ve been thru throughout the years both good, bad and indifferent. With that being said booing anyone that’s down with an injury let alone your own player is LAME AF!!”

The former Cleveland Cavaliers icon wasn’t the only superstar athlete to call out the unusual response to Watson’s injury. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett also lambasted the Browns fan base after the game.
Fans likely reacted the way that they did given the allegations of sexual assault against Watson off the field. It didn’t help that Watson was also in the midst of one of the worst statistical quarterback seasons in recent memory and on a fully guaranteed contract.
