Marlon Mack likely out a few weeks after undergoing hand surgery
Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack left Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after fracturing his hand, and the injury is expected to cost him several games.
Colts head coach Frank Reich told reporters on Monday that Mack underwent surgery and has been ruled out for Thursday night’s matchup with the Houston Texans. He could potentially miss a few games after that, as well.
Colts RB Marlon Mack fractured his hand and had surgery this morning. Out this week for sure, no timetable. But it'll likely be a few weeks.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Mack is hopeful he can play again this season.
It is a fracture in the right hand metacarpal bone. Mack still hopes to return later this season. https://t.co/yWlBiKsyyj

Mack was having his best game of the year on Sunday before he got hurt, as he had already racked up more than 100 yards and scored a touchdown on an incredible run in the first half. The former fourth-round pick has 862 yards rushing this season and is averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He has been a huge part of the Colts’ offense, which has been without star receiver TY Hilton for the past few weeks as well.
The Colts are 6-4 and on top in the AFC South, but losing Mack is a major blow. They will look for Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines to pick up the slack in the meantime, and it would not be a surprise if they brought in another back for depth.
