Martellus Bennett: Vontaze Burfict apologized for low hit
Vontaze Burfict has a reputation for being a dirty player, so it’s no surprise that one of his low hits had him in the middle of a controversy. But at least this time he is apologizing.
During the New England Patriots-Cincinnati Bengals game on Sunday, Burfict went low with a dive at the back of Bennett’s knees when the Pats tight end was waiting for a pass (video here).
Given Burfict’s history of cheap shots, many took note of the hit.
After the game, Bennett did say the Bengals linebacker apologized for the hit, though the tight end noted that the low shot was probably intentional.
Bennett said Burfict apologized and said he didn't mean to get him in the back of the knee but added, "But he probably did."

More Bennett on Burfict: "He apologized. He said he didn’t try to do it. But it’s part of the game. Stuff happens."

Bennett thinking the hit from Burfict was intentional is nothing unusual. We’ve seen other players accuse Burfict of doing the same thing.
