This is Lewis’ 15th season with the Bengals. The team has been to the playoffs seven times in his tenure but has not won a single postseason game. After Cincinnati reached the postseason each year from 2011 to 2015, they went 6-9-1 last year and are 5-8 so far in 2017.
Schefter reports that Lewis is expected to be a top candidate for a number of head coaching vacancies across the NFL. Lewis would also reportedly be interested in working in a front office or working as a coaching adviser for one of his former assistants, such as Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.
Lewis has seemed particularly frustrated this season, even calling out his players publicly at times. His impending departure from the Bengals is long overdue.
