Matt Cassel ‘absolutely’ wants to remain with Cowboys for a long time
Matt Cassel would “absolutely” like to stay with the Dallas Cowboys for “a long period of time.”
The veteran quarterback seems to be enjoying his time in Dallas, because he wants to be there long-term, even if it means backing up Tony Romo.
Cassel on his future: "We'll cross that bridge when it comes…Would I like to be a Dallas Cowboy for a long period of time? Absolutely."

Cassel’s start on Sunday could well be his last with the team, as Romo is due to return from injury the following week. Cassel is also set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, so his future is up in the air.
It’s too soon to say if the feeling is mutual. Despite the fact that Cassel has yet to win a game under center for Dallas, Jerry Jones does like a veteran backup, as Kyle Orton and Jon Kitna will remind us. Tony Romo will be 36 next season, though, so Jones might prefer to groom a successor. After all, Jerry is a noted Johnny Manziel fanboy, and will he be able to resist if the Browns release him or make him available? I’m betting not.
