It was a long offseason for Las Vegas Raiders superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
The Raiders and Baltimore Ravens agreed to a trade sending Crosby to Baltimore for two first-round picks. Then, in a stunning twist, the Ravens backed out shortly after due to medical reasons.
However, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that another team called about Crosby: The Los Angeles Rams.
“Garrett wasn’t the only superstar edge the Rams strongly considered acquiring in the spring,” Pelissero wrote. “They also called and kept tabs on Maxx Crosby, who ended up back in Las Vegas after a blockbuster deal with the Ravens came apart in March over concerns about the knee Crosby had repaired in January.”
After the Ravens backed out, reports stated that there was still a path to Crosby being traded, although it seems unlikely that Las Vegas would receive anywhere close to two first-round picks.
On June 1, the Rams acquired Myles Garrett in a blockbuster deal with the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Jared Verse and three draft picks. That essentially ended any hopes of landing Crosby, and then Aaron Donald came out of retirement to play with LA.
Still, the thought of Crosby in LA is a fun one to think about, although the duo of Garrett and Donald is as scary as it gets.
For the Raiders, there could be more Crosby trade discussions as the season goes on, especially if he plays well and looks healthy.
